Full Professor, Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC)
Piero Crespo obtained his Ph.D degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Cantabria in 1991. He is a full professor of the Spanish Research Council (CSIC) and the director of the Instituto de Biomedicina y Biotecnología de Cantabria (IBBTEC). His research has focused on the regulation of RAS-ERK pathway, in particular on how subcellular localization and signal compartmentalization affect the biochemical and biological outputs of these signalling intermediaries, both in physiological and pathological contexts, and how space-regulated effects can be exploited as antitumoral strategies. A field in which he has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications in SCI journals, He has mentored 18 doctotal theses; he has been honoured by four national and international research awards; he serves in seven editorial boards and acts as reviewer for numerous scientific journals and funding agencies.
