personal info
Prof. Christine Sers is an internationally recognized expert in molecular tumor pathology at the Institute of Pathology at Charité Berlin. She heads the Laboratory for Molecular Tumor Pathology, where she and her team conduct research of signal transduction systems in cancer cells focusing on systems-oriented tumor biology. Following postdoctoral research positions at University of Munich, the University of Nijmegen (the Netherlands) and the University Hospital Zurich (Switzerland), Christine Sers moved to Charité in Berlin in 1996 where she was appointed Professor of Tumor Systems Biology in 2012. She dedicates her research to the molecular mechanisms of carcinogenesis, particularly RAS and MAPK-mediated signaling pathways that influence tumor growth and therapy resistance. Christine Sers’ teaching experience includes the ‘Molecular Medicine’ master’s program and the medical curriculum at Charité. She lectures in tumor biology, bioinformatics, and molecular pathology. She is a member of scientific committees including the Charité Research Commission and the Gender and Diversity Task Force. She actively supports young researchers as a faculty member of the Berlin School of Integrative Oncology (BSIO) and as a mentor for young female scientists in the Charité.
